Apprentice Season 2

My favorite episode from Season 2 of The Apprentice was Season 2 episode 2, "Scoop Dreams"
Task description:
The task was to create and develop a new ice cream flavor as well as market it successfully.
Leaders of Mosaic and Apex:
Mosaic's project manager was Kelly, and Apex's leader was Ivana.
Reward for winners:
The reward for the winner, Mosaic, was a dinner at the Petrossian.
Who was taken to the boardroom:
Ivana, Stacie, Jennifer, and Bradford were taken to the boardroom.
Who was fired and why:
Bradford was fired. He was originally exempt from being eliminated, but he was too confident and decided to waive his exemption, causing him to be eliminated.
Include why you liked this episode:
I liked this episode because I thought the task was interesting and something I would enjoy doing. I also enjoyed the surprising ending.
Trump's lesson from this episode was "Get Organized." We see the failure in team Apex in this episode because they started late, had no clear leader, and they lost contact with each other when selling their ice cream. On top of that, they were stopped by street vendors because they didn't have licenses or permits to sell food.

Current Event December

A new pocket-sized device allows you to print on any size piece of paper and on the go. It works by placing a printhead on a set of wheels and then having it print onto the paper. The user puts the Zuta Pocket Printer in the corner of the paper and then sends the document to the device. One ink cartridge can print about 100 pages. The idea for the printer came in 2013 and in 2014 they had a kickstarter campaign to fund Zuta Labs. Right now you can't get one, but they will start shipping printers to customers in the beginning of 2017.

Survey Results

As of today, I received 16 responses to the survey that I released. I received 10 responses from males, and 6 from females. They were primarily sophomores, several seniors, a few juniors, and no freshman. One thing that surprised me is that most people weren't involved in a club at all. Several people were involved in only one club. Only a few people were involved in four or more clubs. A lot of people believed that posters on the wall were the best way to advertise clubs. The morning announcements was another popular method of advertisement.
My goal in mind was to figure out whether bulletin boards would be a logical and convenient method to advertise new clubs. I asked a lot of questions on how people viewed club advertisements, but I didn't ask specifically about bulletin boards. If I could redo this survey, I would ask whether people would enjoy bulletin boards specifically for announcing new clubs.

Marketing Real Project

Our group discussed putting bulletin boards around RMHS in order to advertise new clubs. Currently, posters that advertise clubs are placed around the school, but not in any particular place. Because they are placed in the halls and in the stalls of bathrooms, it is likely that they will be taken down or moved. If bulletin boards are placed around the school, that creates a few central locations for posters to go. If students are interested in joining a club, they can go to a bulletin board in order to help them decide. Here are three things that we can do to popularize the bulletin boards in the school:
1. Talk to Mr. McSweeney or Mr. Bakr to get permission and advice to advertise new clubs with bulletin boards.
2. Get people to donate money or hold fundraisers in order to pay for several bulletin boards.
3. Put up bulletin boards and spread the word for people to hear about this new addition to our school.

The Millennial Generation

Characteristics: The Millennial Generation is described by How Stuff Works as "Highly educated, self-confident, technologically savvy and ambitious." It is also well known that social media has a high impact on their lives. They use technology more frequently and view it in a more positive way than older generations typically do.

TV Shows: According to AdWeek, The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones are two highly popular TV shows to millennials.

Movies: Two movies that are popular with millennials are The Lion King (1994) and Titanic (1997) The Lion King came out when most millennials were growing up and is likely one of their favorite childhood movies. Titanic was highly popular with millennials when it came out and was very successful.

Magazines: Two of the most popular magazines with millennials are Cosmopolitan and ESPN.
Sports are a live event that is popular with millennials. Sports such as football, baseball, basketball, and hockey attract lots of millennials. Recently, the musical Hamilton has opened on Broadway. The show uses modern-day style music to tell the story of Alexander Hamilton. This appeals to millennials today because of the modern style.

Vacation Spots: According to TripIt, two of the most popular vacation spots among millennials are Nicaragua and Thailand. They attract millennials for their affordability, as well as their beautiful sights.

Pokemon Go

Over the summer, the highly popular app Pokemon Go was released. In order to use the app, users walk around outside and catch Pokemon out in the real world. The object of the game is to collect as many as you can, as well as evolve them and battle your Pokemon. The app was released on July 6, 2016, when most students are on summer break and have nothing to do. The game provides something to do, a reason to walk around and get some exercise, and a fun motivation behind it. Because the app was released in the summer, the target market is children and teens on summer break. It also appeals to younger adults and older teens who enjoyed Pokemon in their childhood. The app was a good way for parents to get their kids out of the house in the summer when teens sit around all day. The idea of collecting things is also appealing to some people, and Pokemon was very popular a while ago. Many people still play Pokemon Go, but it is not as popular right now in September. Pokemon Go was highly popular for about a month, and then quickly faded. The reason for this is because people got tired of walking around to find the Pokemon, and they got bored of collecting them. Also, people started going back to school and things got busier. Towards the end of the summer, there wasn't as much time for teens to go out and play Pokemon Go. Also, there were many safety concerns with the app. Because younger children and teens are walking around with their heads down, looking at their phone, they are more likely to get hurt while playing. Because Pokemon is still a very recent fad, nothing has replaced it yet. Many people still use Pokemon Go, but it has faded a lot. Perhaps next summer, a new game will replace it and be as big of a deal as Pokemon Go was.

The Toy Hall of Fame

The Toy Hall of Fame recognizes popular and creative toys. Every year they honor new toys. Some toys that have been nominated for 2016 are Care Bears, Clue, Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, Nerf, and Transformers. Getting into the Toy Hall of Fame means that the toy is remarkable and impressive.
I think that all of the nominated toys are great, and deserve a spot in the Toy Hall of Fame. It surprised me that some of the toys are very old and haven’t been honored yet. None of the toys are relatively new. I feel as if some toys which were popular in the past, such as Transformers, should have been recognized earlier.
