Over the summer, the highly popular app Pokemon Go was released. In order to use the app, users walk around outside and catch Pokemon out in the real world. The object of the game is to collect as many as you can, as well as evolve them and battle your Pokemon. The app was released on July 6, 2016, when most students are on summer break and have nothing to do. The game provides something to do, a reason to walk around and get some exercise, and a fun motivation behind it. Because the app was released in the summer, the target market is children and teens on summer break. It also appeals to younger adults and older teens who enjoyed Pokemon in their childhood. The app was a good way for parents to get their kids out of the house in the summer when teens sit around all day. The idea of collecting things is also appealing to some people, and Pokemon was very popular a while ago. Many people still play Pokemon Go, but it is not as popular right now in September. Pokemon Go was highly popular for about a month, and then quickly faded. The reason for this is because people got tired of walking around to find the Pokemon, and they got bored of collecting them. Also, people started going back to school and things got busier. Towards the end of the summer, there wasn't as much time for teens to go out and play Pokemon Go. Also, there were many safety concerns with the app. Because younger children and teens are walking around with their heads down, looking at their phone, they are more likely to get hurt while playing. Because Pokemon is still a very recent fad, nothing has replaced it yet. Many people still use Pokemon Go, but it has faded a lot. Perhaps next summer, a new game will replace it and be as big of a deal as Pokemon Go was.
